The past few months have been full of teaching, collaborating, performing and stage directing!
I briefly returned to Bloomington, IN to try my hand at stage directing Menotti’s The Telephone for Roundabout Opera for Kids, a local opera outreach program. It was great to return to IU and work with some colleagues to put together a wonderful show. Learn more about ROK here.
I am several weeks into a new teaching job at the Beverly Arts Center on the south side of Chicago. As an alum of the BAC, I am thrilled to have made the circle back! I am teaching private piano lessons, class piano to children and adults, and a children’s choir called Songbirds. The BAC is a great place for kids and adults with interest in the arts to learn a new skill or brush up on an old one. Check out their curriculum!
In the past few months I have had the great pleasure of working on several operas around the city. American Chamber Opera’s Don Giovanni was a great success and I am excited to be working with them again on their upcoming holiday show in December. I also helped prepare the fantastic singers at Petite Opera Productions on their upcoming show, Massanet’s Cendrillion. You can get more information about the show here – it is great for kids and families!
Now I am gearing up to start performing with Chicago Opera Playground and their fantastic children’s opera The Knightly News. The premiere of this clever mix of several different fairy tales can be seen for the first time on November 11th and then we will travel to local area schools throughout the year. See my ‘Upcoming Events’ for information and contact me if you are interested in booking a show.
In a few weeks I will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for my third appearance at the International Food and Beverage Forum to perform with tenor Carlos Montane and indulge in some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten. Check out their website to get more information on this scholarship program.
